Clinical observation of acupuncture combining with internal and external application of traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis sequela

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combining with internal and external application of traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis sequela.Methods Eighty-two patients with peripheral facial paralysis sequela were randomly divided into treatment group(n=52)and control group(n=30).The patients in treatment group were administered with traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture,and the patients in control group were administered with acupuncture only.The efficacy was determined by House-Brackmann(H-B) facial nerve function evaluation system.Results After 6 months treatment,the effective rate of treatment group was higher than that of control group(98.07% vs 86.67%,P0.01).Conclusion Acupuncture combining with traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis sequela is effective,safe and worth to be recommended.
