Abstract
The yeast-mediated biotransformation of benzaldehyde and pyruvic acid to L-Phenylacetylcarbinol(L-PAC),a key intermediate for L-ephedrine synthesis, occurs in citrate buffer(pH6.0) containing 10% free yeast cells aged of 18h at temperature of 28℃.The highest L-PAC concentration of 15()g/L was achieved by adding 150mmol/L benzaldehyde with 180mmol/L pyruvic acid in batches.
