Abstract
Thematic map emphasizes on the given map elements or concepts.Every thematic map is consisted of the geographic map and the thematic overlay.In order to realize the automatic thematic mapping,firstly the geographic database and the thematic database must be built.For the geographic data,the attribute information and the symbol code tables are made use of to link the database and the symbol software.After symbolization,geographic map is shaped,as provides the locate information.For the thematic data,after data preprocessing,corresponding mathematic models are selected according to the user's demands and the instruction of the knowledge database.On the basis of the models,the thematic symbol pool can be linked and corresponding symbol be selected.In this paper,database,model storage,symbol pool as well as their interface have been build.At the same time,knowledge storages have been taken great advantage of.Thus,from data collection,mathematic base planning,model matching to symbol selection and elements overlay,automatic thematic mapping is realized.
