Abstract

Objective: To compare the effects of transesophageal atrial pacing and propafenone in treatment of parasysmal supraventricular tachycardia(PSVT).Methods: 44 patients with PSVT were distributed in the group of transesophageal atrial pacing,PSVT were terminated by S 1S 1 overdriving suppression or S 1S 2 programmed ectopic stimulation. 46 patients with PSVT were in group of propafenone,70mg propafenone was injected into each patient, after 20~40 minutes,if PSVT was not be terminated,70mg propafenone would be injected again, maximum dose of propafenone was 210mg. Results: The effective rate of terminating PSVT by transesophageal atrial pacing and propafenone was 81.8% and 82.6% respectively, there was no significant difference between the two groups(P0.05). Conclusion: Transesophageal atrial pacing is safe and effective in treatment of PSVT,and has few adverse reactions.
