Abstract
The copper coatings were prepared on stainless steel surface by cold spraying. The cross section images and microhardness of the coatings were observed by metallurgical microscopy and microhardness testers, respectively. The binding mechanism of the coating was studied. The results show that low velocity exists during accumulating, some of which are rebounded and affected the binding between the coating and substrate. It is mechanical bonding and partly metallurgical bonding intra-coating.The microhardness of the coatings is relatively uniformly distributed and it is higher than pure copper.
