Abstract
Diagonal operators on l~2 are studied in this paper. The adjoint operators of diagonal operators are also described. Necessary and sufficient conditions for diagonal operators to be positive operators,finite rank operators, or Hilbert-schmidt operators are obtained and their applications in operator theory are also presented.
