A Survey into the Mental Health of the Elementary School Teachers in Ningyuan County

A mental health survey is conducted to a sample of elementary school teachers from six schools with symptom checklist SCL-90,which reveals the following results: 89.9% of the elementary school teachers’ entire mental health condition are good,;impaired relevance ratio of mental health is 10.1%;points of the factors of Somatization,hostility,ObsessiveCompulsive,and interpersonal seneitivity are higher than the domestic norm;percentage of the monomial factors scoring higher than 2 are listed in ascending order as follows: Photic anxiety,psychoticism,anxiety,interpersonal seneitivity,Somatization,depression,Paranoid ideation,hostility;33.3% of the teachers have symptoms of Obsessive Compulsion;mental health level of the male teachers are lower than that of female teachers;mental health level of teachers over the age of 46 are lower than that of teachers of the other age guoups;mental health level of secondary technical school teachers and Junior College teachers differs slightly.
