Breeding of a new resistant seedless watermelon variety Zhengkang 5503

Zhengkang 5503 is a new seedless watermelon variety with resistance to disease.The female parent is a F1 hybrid by crossing between new resistant tetraploid inbred line 2002S1 and 2002S2,the male parent is an inbred line 2002S58.The total growing period is about 105 days,and the fruit matures about 32 days after pollination.Average fruit weight is 5-6 kg and large fruit can be up to 8 kg.The fruit is globe shaped with dark green narrow stripes on light green skin.The flesh is red with central soluble solids about 11.0%.The variety is resistant to Fusarium wilt,and the fruit can be long distance shipped because of its tough rind.It can be grown in main seedless watermelon production areas in China.
