Abstract

Based on the configuration and the principle of a kind of parallel hybrid electric vehicle, a simulation system has been developed utilizing the Matlab/Simulink toolbox to predict and analyze the performance of the vehicle. A logic-based control strategy is assessed. Simulation results, including the speed of the vehicle, the state of charge of the battery, fuel economy and the emission performance, etc., over the EPA Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule, demonstrate the potential of the simulation model. This study is helpful to the design of a hybrid electric vehicle and prediction of its performance.
