Abstract
Original ecological culture, a realistic phenomenon, brings out a cultural issue in modern society. However, weaknesses exist in its research, for its research object has not been differentiated from those of ethnology, anthropology and cultural studies, thus forming a theoretical scotoma. The reason is that it is taken as an objective entity instead of a reproduction activity that a subject has carried out in a cultural resource. Such culture, in essence, is a productive activity of the traditional culture reconstruction occurring in present social transformation. Therefore, its research object is not just cultural object, but a reproduction activity by a subject in traditional culture resources with a diversity of provisions. The specific research contents should consist of both the subject and object of the cultural practice as well as the original ecological culture practice and its forms and rules as a kind of activity in the modernization process.
