Abstract

Objective To study the expression of p53 and C-erbB-2 in 240 cases with breast cancer. Methods The p53 and C-erbB-2 were detected with immunohistochemical stain method in 240 breast tissues. The relationship between p53 and C-erbB-2 and some clinicopathological factors were analyzed. Results The positive p53 and C-erbB-2 were mostly located in nucleus with the rates of 53.3% and 63.3%,respectively. The expression levels of p53 and C-erbB-2 were correlated possitively with histological grade (P0.05) and axillary lymph node metastases(P0.05), which were not with PR and ER status(P0.05). Conclusions The p53 and C-erbB-2 play a role in the oncogenesis and development of breast cancer and their expression could be the useful indexes to assess the malignant level of breast carcinoma and its clinical prognosis.Expression of p53 and axillary lymph node metastases may be an independent prognostic indicator of operative survival in breast cancer patients.
