Abstract

Considering the serious problems resulted from neglect of cultural background knowledge,this essay explores how English teachers should attach great importance to imparting cultural background knowledge other than language knowledge and skills to students in the process of English teaching.Only in this way can students take a global perspective in their English learning and widen the spectrum of both their English language knowledge and cultural background knowledge.
