Abstract

Objective To investigate the new progresses in tumor suppressor gene PTEN and esophageal carcinoma(EC).Methods The international research literatures about PTEN and EC in recent 5 years were reviewed.Results The PTEN gene mutations in EC were not often detected,but the reduction of the expression of PTEN was a common thing.The expression of PTEN protein was closely related with pathological staging and prognosis.Conclusion The decreased expression of PTEN may play an important role in the occurrence and development of EC.
