Abstract
Through calculating the city primacy index and the fractal dimension of the fractal distribution on city scale of Yunnan urban system, this study points out the characteristics of the current Yunnan urban system, which include loose structure of urban system, great diversity of population and immature development of cities. Then from the perspective of spatial structure, the correlation dimension of the spatial structure of urban system is calculated, and the spatial structure of cities is analyzed by using fractal theory. It is indicated that the distribution of cities is apparently characterized by along the main traffic stems of the urban system. At last, based on the empirical analysis, this paper puts forward some optimal measures for Yunnan urban system.
