Abstract

Six shellfieh poisoning cases as consequences of algal blooms nearshore of Chian were introduced. The characteristics and toxic mechansim were summarized. Six measures on dealing with shellfish poisoning in China were put forward, stressing the necessity of 1)establishing shellfish poison monitoring network, continuous monitoring toxin content in edible shellfish at serial stations,3)speeding up the research on detecting methods of shellfish toxin and 4)stren-thening the studies of physiological and ecological of red tide organisms.
