Abstract

In this paper monodisperse polystyrene(PS) microspheres with the size of 3~8 μm were prepared by dispersion polymerization. The effect of stabilizer(PVP) and initiator(AIBN),the concentration of monomer, medium characteristics and temperature on the particle size and size distribution were investigated. The results showed that particle size decreased as the increase of stabilizer, particle size increased with the increase of initiator, the concentration of monomer, temperature and water in the medium. The PVP and the concentration of monomer were critical factors for the particle size.Relative standard deviation(RSD) of PS particles size decreased as the increase of PVP,and increased with the increase initiator.RSD of PS particle size decreased markedly after adding water into ethanol medium.
