Abstract
Aim To observe the activity of levofloxacin gel against Mycobacterium tuberculosis in vitro and its security in bronchia interventional therapy. Methods The MIC and MBC of levofloxacin and levofloxacin gel were measured by handwork method and instrument method, the security of levofloxacin gel was assessed by bronchia interventional therapy using rabbits as experiment animals. Results The MIC of levofloxacin gel to M.Tuberculosis H 37 RV,M.bovis and M.phlei are 0.5,1,8mg·L -1 respectively. The MBC of levofloxacin gel to M.tuberculosis H 37 RV,M.bovis and M.phlei are 2,2,24mg·L -1 respectively. The MIC and MBC of levofloxacin gel and levofloxacin have no significant difference. The animal security experiment is negative. Conclusion These results suggest that levofloxacin gel and levofloxacin have the same efficacy against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and carbomer doesn't affect the activity of levofloxacin against Mycobacterium tuberculosis.Levofloxacin gel which contains carbomer is safe in bronchia interventional therapy.
