Creature Totem in Classical Dai Literature

Classical Dai literature reflected the creature totem of the ancestors, like cattle totem,bird totem,dragon totem,elephant totem and tiger totem and so on.The social rite,costumes and cultural relics of Dai ethnic group proved the ancient totem of Dai.The ancestors of Dai hoped to get protection from the creatures they totemed and develop themselves well.And,they hoped to make them have the mighty,supernatural,the beautiful and the lucky fate of the totem creatures hence to promote the group members' self-confidence and the sense of proud,and to enhance the coacervation power and the ablity of developing.The creature totem of Dai contained the worship to the totem creatures and the ancestors.It also had the hope of the Dai ancestors to survive and develop.
