Politics in the Tang Dynasty and the Three Religions of Buddhism,Taoism,and Confucianism

In the early years of the Tang Dynasty,the rulers adopted a flexible policy toward reli- gion on the basis of social,political and economic situation.This policy laid a good foundation for political stability,economic development,and literary prosperity.The three religions,in the strive for a better social position,drew themselves close to politics and benefited from one anoth- er and eventually became popular.Consequently,the dominant position of Confucianism was strengthened and the doctrine further developed,the naturalization of Buddhism completed,and Taoism gained unparalleled popularity.
