RECONSIDERATION OVER HUMANISTIC EDUCATION IN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES

Abstract

The problem of how to improve the quality of personnel training is at the core of reform of higher education. However, humanistic education, which is an important component of the work for cultivating high-quality personnel, is now in a dilemma as a result of many factors. Lagging behind of theoretical innovation of humanistic education, utilitarian tendency and industrialization of higher education and categorization of humanistic education by science are just a few of them. This paper puts forward a new idea for strengthening humanistic education in universities and colleges: update the concept and goal of humanistic education in universities and colleges, cultivate humanistic spirit in moral education, incorporate humanistic spirit in science education, cultivate sound personality in aesthetic education, and create a campus environment favorable for the development of humanistic spirit.
