Abstract
From the perspective of comparative study,this paper studies on Wang Guowei's and Cai Yuanpei' s source of aesthetic education thoughts.Wang Guowei first initiated aesthetic education in Modern China.He is also the founder of the theory of modern Chinese aesthetic education.Cai Yuanpei took the lead in implementing the aesthet- ic education and advocated all his life the personal practice of aesthetic education and popularization of aesthetic theo- ry,and eventually established the important position of aesthetic education.Wang Guowei's and Cai Yuanpei's aes- thetics are based on traditional Chinese and Western aesthetic philosophy.At the same time,their aesthetics both shine with humanism.However,they have vastly different interpretations of aesthetic education and the specific role of each other is not exactly the same.Their thoughts give inspirations to modern development of aesthetic education.
