Abstract
Iconicity means a close relation between the symbol of language and something people want to express.Non-iconicity means the names and signs which people can express.Nom-iconicity has nothing to do with the referents.Non-iconicity is the conventional result. This paper tries to use examples of English and Chinese words about feelings to prove that language is characterized by iconicity when it is used by parallelist rhetori, that language is characterized by iconicity when it is used by hyperbole rhetoric.and that words which are collocated with the semantic content are characterized by non-iconicity when they can change into figurative sense and different meanings.
