Advance of Conservation Biology and the Relationship between Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development

Conservation biology is a young integrated science whose purpose is to study the methods and means of biodiversity conservation. Today conservation biology has become especially important as the ecosystem is being severely damaged and the biodiversity is being rapidly decreased. This paper deals with the history, principles, development directions, the main study contents including conservation genetics, population viability analysis and the focus problems of conservation biology. At the end of this paper, the relationship between conservation biology and sustainable development is discussed.
