Viewed from the point of the Chinese modern literature history, Zhang Ailing was undoubtedly the symbol of the fate of Chinese urbanization construction in the 20th century. As model works of urban literature, Zhang Ailing's works have their distinctive characteristics. Zhang Ailing connected the literature tradition of Art for art since the May 4th Movement with the tradition of Art for Readers. She developed a new style of her own and also paved a way full of vitality and dangers by using amoral writing, individualism writing, materialization writing and fantastic writing.
