Abstract
A stratified sampling survey is conducted to collect data in Central Business District of Dalian city to analyze the relationships between commuter's trip-chain types and trip mode choices. With a cross analysis of this set of data, a simultaneous Logit model is used to examine the relationships. In investigating the relationships between trip-chain types and trip mode choices, the impact from monthly-income is also considered in this study. The results indicate that the relationships among collected data set are statistically significant. One crucial finding is that commuters' personal attributes and family attributes have prominent effects on trip mode choice, trip-chain type and their relationships. Due to the limitation of public transportation service level, the commuters who drive cars usually generate complex trip chains, especially those with high-incomes.
