Abstract

Objective: The purpose of the present study was to analyze the relationship between initial implant stability quotients(ISQi) and insertion torque value(ITv) on implant stability evaluatation, and discuss the change of implant stability quotients(ISQ) of different initial stability over the healing time. Methods: Thirty-four patients who needed one or more dental implants were collected in the research.A total of 55 implants were inserted. At the time of implant placement, each implant was tested for primary stability by resonance frequency analysis(RFA) and insertion torque.RFA was performed again during examinations at 4,8 and 12 weeks following surgery. Results: A strong, positive correlation was found between ISQi and ITv.In the lower initial stability group, the ISQ steadily increased throughout the healing period, whereas in the higher groups decreased in the first four weeks and then increased gently. Conclusions: Osstell ISQTMis a quite sensitive simple-used instrument to measure and evaluate the implant stability.ISQi and ITv are the favorable indices to evaluate the initial implant stability.ISQ change pattern is closely related to the primary stability.
