Abstract

The Three Beauties advanced by Wen Yiduo in his Metrical Patterns of Poetry is one of his bold innovations in the composition of new Chinese poetry.This paper discusses the three beauties in Wen's own poetry,which are the beauty of pure color in traditional physical image,the beauty of contrast between nature andreality,andthebeautyof bright color of ideal life.From this perspective,it proceeds to investigate Wen's lifelong pursuit for prosperity of China and fulfilled life.Though the beauties vary in form,Wen's pursuit for beauty will be remembered forever.
