The Impact of Asian Elephants and Other Wildlife Species on the Villages around the Shangyong Nature Reserve,Xishuangbanna

Data collected by Shangyong Administrative office,Xishuangbanna Nature Reserve,were combined and analyzed to illustrate the activities locations of Asian elephants(Elaphas maximus)near the villages around this reserve.This included the signs recorded by the staff in the normal patrol and the special armed patrol.The(?)double si±techniques(GPS and GIS)were adopted to analyze the data to understand the activities of the wildlife.The statuses of Human-wildlife Conflicts(HWC)were discussed and some administrative strategies to alleviate the conflicts were suggested.
