Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of p16INK4Ain cervical lesions and its relation to human papilloma virus 16(HPV16) infection.Methods p16INK4Awas detected by microarray and immunohistochemistry methods;HPV16cDNA was detected by microarray and in situ hybridization techniques in 15 tissue specimens of normal cervix,10 cervical condyloma,45 CINs and 20 cervical carcinoma.Results The expression of HPV16cDNA increased with the progress of cervical lesions(P0.001).The expression of p16INK4Awas negative in all tissue specimens of normal cervix.The expression rate of p16INK4Awas significantly increased with the progress of cervical lesions(P0.001).The expression of p16INK4Awas positively correlated with that of HPV16cDNA.Conclusions The expression of p16INK4Amay reflect the severity of HPV infection.Detection of p16INK4Awith tissue microarray might be developed as a screening test for HPV infection.
