Abstract
Objective To investigate the early effect and significance of hypertonic saline resuscitation on pulmonary apoptosis in rats with hemorrhagic shock. Methods A model of rat with severe hemorrhagic shock was established in 23 SD rats. The rats were randomly divided into Sham group(n=8),HS group(hypertonic saline resuscitation group,n=9) and NS group(normal saline resuscitation group,n=6).The pulmonary apoptosis of rats after hemorrhagic shock and were detected and compared resuscitation by FITC-Annexin V/PI double staining method and flow cytometry. Results In the early stage after hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation, there was significant pulmonary apoptosis in rats of HS and NS groups. The number of apoptotic cells was obviously more in HS or NS group than that in Sham group, and there were significant difference(P0.01).At the same time, compared with HS group, the higher pulmonary apoptosis of NS group were observed(P0.01).Conclusions In this model of rat with severe hemorrhagic shock, small volume resuscitation with HS is more effective than NS in inhibiting pulmonary apoptosis and reducing acute lung injury, which may be the one of lung protective mechanisms of hypertonic saline resuscitation.
