Abstract
Objective To analyze cytokeratin proteinogram of buccal squamous cell carcinoma and metastasis of lymph node. Methods Specimens of buccal squamous cell carcinoma and metastasis of lymph node were investigated by SDS PAGE and Western Blot. Results CK18,19 were detectable in buccal mucosa carcinoma, differentiated cancerous cells.CK19 and cytokeratin fragments were detectable in metastasis of lymph node. Conclusions Aberrant expression of CK18 and 19 and non-expression of CK 10 was a common feature in oral squamous cell carcinoma.Expression of CK 19 and cytokeratin fragments was a significant feature in oral squamous cell carcinoma and metastasis of lymph node. These observations suggest that metastasis of lymph node tumours was variant in patterns of cytokeratin expression during oral cancerometastasis.
