Expression of Skp2 in human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and clinical significance

Objective To investigate the expression of S-phase kinase-associated protein 2(Skp2) in human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and Its clinical significance.Methods The expression of Skp2 in 79 specimens of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and 27 of vocal cord polyp was detected with immunohistochemical SP method.And the relationship between the expression and clinical pathological parameters and prognosis was analyzed.Results The positive rates of Skp2 were 39.24% and 11.11% in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and vocal cord polyp(P0.01) respecyively.The expression of Skp2 in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma was related to differentiation(P0.05),lymph nodal metastasis and prognosis of this tumor(P0.05),but not correlated with patients' gender and age,loci and UICC-stage of the tumor(P0.05).Patients with positive Skp2 expression revealed lower five-year survival rate than those with negative expression.Conclusion Increased expression of Skp2 is correlated with pathologic differentiation,lymph nodal metastasis and prognosis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma,which means that Skp2 may be an important marker for the evaluation of malignacy and prognosis of this tumor.
