Abstract
Objective:To investigate the correlation between the expression of adhesion molecule E_cadherin in oral squamous cell carcinoma and lymph node metastasis.Method: The E_cadherin expression in 40 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma was investigated by using immunohistochemical staining.Result: There was difference between the E_cadherin expression in the normal oral mucous epithelia and oral squmous cell carcinoma. The staining degree was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis. Conclusion: The E_cadherin expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma with lymph node metastasis was much lower than that without metastasis, and therefore, the E_cadherin expression may be used as a marker of prognosis.
