Abstract
At temperature of(21±1) ℃,the trial was carried on goldfish by different starvation and re-feed time,in order to investigate the compensatory growth and its mechanism. The results showed that the type of the compensatory growth is completely compensatory growth. For goldfish, higher specific growth rates were obtained from higher feeding rate and higher food conversion. When the starvation time is short(5 d),the compensatory growth resulted from higher feeding rate. However, when the starvation time is relatively long(10 or 15 d),the compensatory growth resulted mostly from higher food conversion.
