Abstract

The effects of Co content on microstructure and martensitic transformation of Ni_(56)Fe_(17)Ga_(27-x)Co_x alloys have been investigated by optical microscope,XRD and DSC methods. The experiment results showed that the microstructure of as-melted alloys was composed of martensitic phase and γ phase at room temperature. The volume fraction of γ phase increased with Co content increasing.Particularly,in Ni_(56)Fe_(17)Ga_(21)Co_6 alloy, the volume fraction of γ phase increased up to 70%.The crystal structure of the martensite phase was determined to be 6M.The alloys exhibited one-step martensitic transformation during the process of cooling and heating. With the increase of Co content, the M_s and A_s temperatures increased.
