Evaluation of Tight Gas Potential in China Using VSD Model

Abstract

Tight gas makes up big proportion of unconventional natural gas and it accounts for a huge proportion in domestic natural gas production.Comparing with shale gas and natural gas,the development technology of tight gas is much more mature.After years of exploration and development,relatively precise reserve number of Ordos basin and Sichuan basin has been acquired.However,the exploration survey of tight gas in Bohai bay basin and Songliao basin is just beginning,thus the exploration and development information is far less sufficient.In order to forecast and evaluate domestic tight gas reserve number,the variable shape distribution(VSD)model,characterized by high accuracy and flexible fitting,is applied in this paper.Based on highly mature gas field reserve,the reserve of 31 tight gas fields has been forecasted with VSD model.This can provide reference data for exploration and development and economic analysis of oil and gas.
