Abstract
Isoamyl benzoate was synthesized by esterification of benzoic acid and isoamyl alcohol over Ti(SO_4)_2/SiO_2 catalyst. The influences of various factors were investigated. Optimum reaction condition was obtained as follows: titanium sulfate loading on SiO_2 =10% (mass fraction); m(catalyst)∶ (m(benzoic acid)=)2.5 g∶0.05 mol, n(isoamyl alcohol)∶n(benzoic acid) = 4∶1, reaction time 90 min. Esterification of 96.6% was attained under the optimum condition.
