Abstract

Song Yu was a famous Ci - Fu writer of the state Chu in the late Warring States, who, together with Qu Yuan were respected as ' The founders of Chinese literature. ' But Qu Yuan was the representative writer of Ci of the State of Chu; while, Song Yu was the preventive of Fu of the State of Chu. The former emphasized on expressing emotion while the latter stressed on describing objects; the former used to enrage the king by frank criticism , but the latter preferred to give his viewpoints in a tactful way. Qu Yuan was great and lofty; while Song Yu, a affectionate and natural person. There were the transfers from Ci of the State of Chu to Fu of the State of Chu; from expressing emotion to describing objects; from frank criticism to tactful criticism; from loftiness to common customs. All these marked the important transition in Chinese literature and gave profound influence to the later writers and their creation.
