Effects of Acupuncture Combined with Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Techniques on Rehabilitation of Upper Limb and Daily Live Ability in Stroke Patients with Hemiplegia

Objective To explore the effects of acupuncture combined with proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques (PNFT) on the rehabilitation of upper limb in stroke patients with hemiplegia.Methods 80 cases with stroke in the hemiplegic rehabilitation program were randomly divided into the acupuncture combined with PNFT group (n=40) and the general rehabilitation group (n=40,as control ).The patients were evaluated with Fugl-Meyer Assessment for upper limb active motor function and Barthel Index Assessment for daily live ability in both groups.Results The scale of Fugl-Meyer and Barthel Index were improved in both groups.But the scale of the treatment was much higher than that of control group,and had statistical difference (P0.0.1).Conclusions The curative effect of acupuncture combined with PNFT is much better than general rehabilitation method in the improvement of motor function of the affected upper limbs and daily live ability for stroke patients with hemiplegia.
