Abstract
Using plot transects,a survey of waders was conducted along Dayi River of Qufu from March to early May in 2008.A total of 8 waders species were recorded,which belonged to 4 genera and 3 families.The results showed that:areas that retained the natural topography were more suitable habitat for waders,as compared to artificially modified waterways.Along natural waterways,waders preferred habitats where the water area proportion was 0.4 and 0.6.The number of birds increased along with the rising coverage of grass.Human-disturbance influenced wader numbers obviously.The ideal covert condition would reduce the amount of human-disturbance.Wader biodiversity increasing by habitat conservation of Dayi River would provide a scientific basis for ecological protection of Qufu city,and a benefit to biodiversity conservation in the Nansi Lake drainage area.
