Abstract
In order to help students improve their listening ability, it is necessary to conduct cognitive research on the process of listening comprehension. Thirteen listening difficulties frequently encountered by L2 students are obtained by means of listening test, students' introspection and reports. Cognitive analysis shows that the difficulties occur in the process of perception, parsing and utilization respectively and are affected by the emotional and psychological factors.
