Abstract
Objective To investigate the influence of uvulopalatopharyngoplasty(UPPP) on blood lipid in obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) patients. Methods Forty-two OSAHS patients and forty normal volunteers were evaluated with polysomnography during sleep.Serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high density lipoprotein(HDL), low density lipoprotein(LDL),apoA,and apoB were measured. All the OSAHS patients were treated by UPPP,and their blood lipid indices were detected after operation. Results The levels of TG、TC、LDL,and Apo-B in OSAHS patients were significantly higher than those in the control group. The level of apo-A of severe OSAHS patients was significantly lower than that of the controls. The level of HDL of OSAHS patients was lower than that of the controls, but the difference was insignificant. The levels of TG、TC、LDL、Apo-B,and AHI were significantly reduced six months after UPPP.Conclusion The abnormal lipid metabolism may be caused by OSAHS,and the abnormalities can be reversed by UPPP.
