Correlative Study on Distribution of TCM Syndromes and Anxiety-Depression in Functional Constipation

Objective To research the relation between distribution of TCM syndrome and anxiety-depression in functional constipation(FC).Methods One hundred and fifty-one FC cases were differentiated by TCM syndromes,and measured with Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),at the same time,25 healthy persons were brought into the research as control.Results FC were more distributed to be spleen Qi asthenia and intestinal Yin asthenia,less were depression and stagnation of Qi,asthenic yang of spleen and kidney,intestine and stomach pyretic syndrome.HAMA(11.23±5.556) and HAMD(6.71±4.805) score of FC patients were higher than normal control(4.44±2.043,3.48±2.417).HAMA and HAMD score of depression and stagnation of Qi patients were all higher than other syndromes(P0.01).Conclusion FC are more distributed to be spleen Qi asthenia and intestinal Yin asthenia,and are liable to suffer from anxiety-depression,especially depression and stagnation of Qi patients.
