Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of injection plus argon plasma coagulation therapy on upper gastrointestinal bleeding ulcer. Methods Three hundred and three patients with active ulcer bleeding or without visible bleeding vessels were involved in this study. One hundred and fifty-seven patients were treated with injection of adrenaline solution,51 patients with argon beam coagulator,95 patients with combination of injection and argon beam coagulator. Results The rate of immediate hemostasia in all cases was 100%,and the curative rates of three different treatments were 87.9%、86.3% and 91.6%,respectively,no statistical difference was found among 3 groups(P 0.05).No perforation and other postoperative complications occurred. Conclusions Endoscopic injection plus argon plasma coagulation therapy is an effective measure for stopping ulcer bleeding, but it does not significantly improve the rate of hemostasis.
