Abstract
Huge deformation of wall rock has a strong impact on the stability of roadway in many underground opening engineering. This large deformation is called for rock dilatancy if volume dilation only occurs owing to stress redistribution. There is an immanent relation between rock dilatancy and confining pressure, the function of the relation is studied by theoretical method and experimental method, and it will be a guide for stability analysis and support design.
