Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in hepatocellular carcinoma cell(HCC) and its correlations with invasion,metastasis and prognosis of HCC. Methods 85 specimens of HCC were studied using immunohistochemical SP method respectively. Results The VEGF expression of HCC correlated with tumor size(P0 05),numbers of tumors(P0 05),tumor emboli in portal vein(P0 05) and tumor capsule(P0 05),but not with HBsAg,Alpha\|fetoprotein and tumor differentiation(P0 05). The significantly negative correlation was found between VEGF expression and tumor free survival time of postoperative patients with HCC. The mean tumor free survival time of VEGF(+) was 22 months,whereas it was 58 months of VEGF(-)(P0 01). Conclusion Expression of VEGF may contribute to invasion and metastasis of HCC. VEGF is associated with poor prognosis.\;
