Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical application in larynx. Methods 35 patients were scanned by spiral CT.The virtual endoscopy images of all patients were compared with that of actual laryngoscopy and the surgical results (5 normal larynx,16 laryngeal carcinomas,5 glottic and arytenoid polyps,1 arytenoid inflammation,2 laryngocele,4 papillary adenoma,2 airway striction caused by laryngectomy and laryngoplasty). All the lesions were pathologically proved. Results The visualization of normal anatomical structure in larynx on CTVL is the same as that of actual laryngoscopy; The sensitivity of CT virtual endoscopy for laryngeal mucosal lesions is 74 3%;The extension of the laryngeal lesions showed in CT virtual endoscopy is prior to that of actual laryngoscopy; The shape of small lesions showed in CT virtual endoscopy is not better than that of actual laryngoscopy. Conclusion CT virtual laryngoscopy is a good complemental method of fiber optic laryngoscopy. [
