Abstract

As a complex phenomenon, influence of journals refers to a comprehensive effect jointly caused by a series of factors, including the academic level and distinction of the journal and the degree of acceptability from the audience and society. In recent years, arguments as to assessment of quality of journals, including influence of academic journals, differ greatly in spite of the numerous results of academic studies. In fact,a scientific, reasonable and operable system of academic journal assessment should at least involve the academic level and distinction of the journal, social evaluation and the audience's acceptance.Assessment of influence of an academic journal calls for a good control over the relationship between quality of academic papers, influential elements and influence of the journal and between influence of key journals and that of academic journals. Moreover, quantitative assessment should be taken as the basis by combining disseminating effects with influence of the journal and quantitative assessment with qualitative assessment.
