Abstract
Objective To evaluate the value of ultrasonography for diagnosis of primary gallbladder carcinoma. Methods The ultrasonographic features of 52 cases of gallbladder carcinoma which were confirmed by operation pathology were retrospectively analyzed. Results Forty-three of the 52 patients were diagnosed correctly (the diagnostic accuracy rate was 82.7%), while 9 were misdiagnosed (the misdiagnosis rate was 17.3%). Among them, 4 cases were misdiagnosed as cholecystitis, 3 as gallbladder polyps, 2 as gallbladder adenomyomatosis. Conclusions The ultrasound has a high coincidence rate for gallbladder carcinoma. It plays an important role in diagnosing and differential diagnosing the gallbladder carcinoma.
