Abstract

Objective To analyze the clinical significance of hs-CRP in patients with AS. Methods Forty-five patients with AS and 50 healthy controls were included. Levels of hs-CRP, routine CRP, ESR, blood glucose, UA, TC, TG, HDL and LDL were detected. Bath AS Function Index (BASFI) and Bath AS Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) in AS patients were used to evaluate the function and disease activity. Results (1) In comparison to healthy controls, the level of hs-CRP was significantly higher in AS patients, and the level of HDL was significantly lower (P0.01). (2) In patients with AS, the positive rate of hs-CRP was significantly higher than CRP, and the positive correlation between hs-CRP and BASDAI was stronger than CRP. The level of hs-CRP was correlated positively with CRP, ESR, TC/HDL, and correlated negatively with HDL (P0.05). Conclusion The detection of hs-CRP in patients with AS helps to enhance the early diagnosis, evaluate the disease activity and predict the occurrence of cardiovascular disease events.
